32 Items Special Rakhi Platter @ Sesame, Kolkata ☺

Sesame, the recent most vegetarian restaurant that has emerged on Kolkata’s food map is backed by the decades of experience and expertise of Ruia family, who happens to be one of the selected few stalwarts of vegetarian catering in the city.

So, when they decide to come up with a festival platter, be sure that it’s going to be sumptuous, authentic and quite in-tune with the ongoing eating trend of the vegetarian diners.

No wonder that their current year’s Rakhi Platter is equipped with a distinct item for each of your tasting tooth i.e. if you are one of those lucky ones who are actually bestowed with a full set of 32 teeth!

Special Rakhi Platter 2018

Yesterday noon, I received their lovely Rakhi Platter for tasting. Looking like an overgrown patch of assorted food items depicting beauty in mayhem, the platter comprised of the following items –

– Fritters and cigar shaped starters –

Curd Rice Fritters, Smoked Vegetable Cheese Cigar Rolls and Pesto Khandvis

All of these items were quite well cooked and tasted good.

– Biryani, kebabs and items of mediterranean platter –

Vegetable Biryani, Vegetable Satay Sticks, Baked Malai Broccolis, Tandoori Paneer Tikkas, Vegetable Steaks, Hara Bhara Kebabs, Falafels and Pita Breads

This assortment was a full lunch in itself. It tasted excellent, specially the Biryani, which was packaged in an eye appeasing flour based potli (bag) and tasted perfect.

Hara Bhara Kebab, Vegetable Steak, Tandoori Paneer Tikka, Falafel, Pita Bread, Vegetable Satay Sticks and Baked Malai Broccoli

– Bakery items –

Twisted Hot Dog Bread With Sesame Seeds, Masala Bread, Cheese Straws, Soup Sticks, Lavash Sticks and Danish Croissants

I tasted small portions of these items along with my late evening tea. They tasted average. Stuffing in both the bread items was quite meagre.

Soup Sticks, Lavash Sticks, Cheese Straws, Cookies, Danish Croissants, Vegetable Biryani, Masala Bread, Vanilla Muffins, Twisted Hot Dog Bread With Sesame Seeds and Chocolate Muffins

– Dips –

Hummus, Romesco, Mango Kasundi, Hot Garlic, Garlic Mayonnaise, Jalapeño Cheese, Curry Cheese, Thai Peanut, Rabri

To be honest, this lovely collection of Dips just blew my mind. I paired them with Starters, Kebabs, as well as, Lavash Sticks.

Each of them tasted quite good. The sweet Rabri Dip was an interesting innovation.

Assorted Dips

– Desserts –

Baklavas, Chocolate Muffins, Vanilla Muffins, Fresh Fruit Tarts, Cookies and Hand Made Chocolates

Fresh Fruit Tarts and Baklavas tasted best in this lot. The Cookies (also Lavash Sticks) turned soggy due to the moisture release of some other items in the packaged tray. The remaining dessert items tasted nice.

Fresh Fruit Tarts and Hand Made Chocolates

All in all, it was a wonderful platter comprising of all possible trendy food items.

Sesame claims this platter to suffice 4 people. But in actuality, it can easily suffice 6 diners, as even after barring the Dips, there are 20+ items and most of them are present in 4 portions.

What are you waiting for? Go ahead and celebrate your sibling love with this lovely Rakhi Platter!

Happy Rakhi to ALL in advance.

My lunch plate for tasting. Some home cooked Mustard Rice and Mashed Potatoes were added to neutralize the spice and dryness of other items.

Note: The entire Rakhi Platter was delivered to me on a single tray. I have used my personal trays to photograph different food items in assorted subsets.
