Bowled Over With Millet Magic @ The Cake Mixing Ceremony πŸ™‚

Venue: The Bakery – The Lalit Great Eastern Kolkata

Date: 18 Nov 2022

In my bid to stay away from gluten free food, I love to experiment with assorted millets and totally love the rotis, pancakes, fritters and khichdi that I create out of them.

But the Hi-Tea buffet menu at the aforementioned cake mixing totally bowled me over, as it was a treasure trove of vegetarian millet dishes and aptly named Millet Magic!

It comprised of assorted beverages, finger food, main course dishes, desserts and bars, all made of one or more of the following millets –

Pearl, finger, sorghum, buckwheat, foxtail, porso, kodo, amaranth, little and barnyard!!

In short, it was a millet lover’s paradise.

The items that I opted to taste were –

  • creamy mushroom risotto with sorghum millet
  • porso and kodu crispy cheesy crust
  • finger millet samosa with amaranth kadhi (I did not take kadhi)
  • barnyard millet doughnut with pea flower and marigold sugar
  • and millet based roll & pasta

All the items tasted fabulous.

Also, I loved meeting all the foodie friends and cheerful hotel staff.
